Personal Work 2

Been doing more background focused pieces recently. That's  just how things seem to be shaking out apparently.

I was pretty frustrated with the tree piece and went through a bunch of different iterations until I after many stubborn efforts, finished it. I thought it wasn't very good but it seemed to go viral on Twitter. Not on any other social network though. I do feel a sense of imposter syndrome. I thought it wasn't very good... Weirddd. It was a good opportunity to collect data on what particular things in that piece resonated with people.

For instance: the story. Apparently people really dug the story. The story was very secondary though. It almost came together by accident. Also the colors. It's just very very odd to me. I feel like it's all very accidental. Oh boy. Can I replicate it? I don't know. But a lesson is learned all the same.

Here are some processes.

Personal Work

Some personal work. They started out as sketches done on drawpile. I enjoy that collaborative process of drawing. Seeing others draw while I draw. It helps me focus and gets me drawing different things. It's similar to streaming but I've always felt streaming as an activity is sort of lonely or a bit self centered (not in a bad way). What I mean is that streaming commands the attention of others which I have never been personally comfortable with because of low self esteem. Collaborative drawing encourages everyone to draw while looking over other's shoulders to see what others are drawing. It feels nice to be sharing in an activity rather than being the only one doing that activity. And if people want to just watch and not participate you're more than welcome on programs like drawpile.

Published / To Be Published Works so far

As the title says I wanted to see visually what I've accomplished so far since like August to now. The pieces are arranged from oldest to newest. All these works are either published or to be published. I think it's something I should be proud of as I try to push myself through my art slump but also a good point of reflection.

Under the cut I reflect about this body of work further.
