More portrait practice. I'd like to move on to figure drawing practice in my next study posts while still doing some portrait studies.
Under the cut are notes and reflections.

I tried doing a portrait from photoshop this time and wow the coloring sucks as much as csp. CSP coloring seems to look nicer I guess. I thought this was challenging since it's a uptilted head plus it's on the side. An angle I'm not used to. Drawing the structure carefully at first definitely helped though since I could just focus on shading and not placement during the painting phase.
I forgot to take wip shots! Oh well. The process was undersketch, multiply layer to add values, then paint over it to add tighter shading and textures.
Another portrait done on csp. I think I like drawing portraits on csp cuz the textured brushes are nice...seeing as how skin has texture. I wonder if there are any good photoshop brushes with a nice texture for skin.
specifically the noise brush in the pastel brushes on csp has a nice texture.
One of the things I always found difficult about jumping into a painting is that i didnt usually have a good sketch underneath which led to all sorts of headaches afterwards. "why does this part look weird." I have been underestimating a good undersketch for a very long time because of laziness and I didn't understand its importance. Well, anyways I'm gonna right that wrong.
